The rich green moss of this mountain park forest is accentuated by the autumn maple leaves which seem to be out of place amongst the evergreen trees. As the sun rises into the sky it peeps into the forest and reveals a very strange and unique looking forest of trees which have limbs entirely coated with moss.
This image was shot in Slesse Park in Chilliwack, Canada in October near sunrise. This image was created for limited production as a large format 2.1 meter (7 foot) wide art piece but can be produced in smaller custom sizes as well.
Behind the scenes…
One of my best friends took me to this park to show me the tree formations hoping I could find a location to shoot. I was immediately struck by its beauty. I shot several locations over two days and as I was walking back out of the park I saw this location and immediately felt it was the one. The very unique combination of fall coloured maple leafs covering the ground below ever green trees creates a beautiful contrast of colours and textures. While the chaos of the branches in the trees and on the ground creates a beautiful clutter of nature which in large format looks stunning.
