Go to the Light

Chaoyang Side Park, Beijing, China

A mystical looking place where seemingly dry barren land is able to support a birch tree forest albeit dormant in the cold winter air.  The morning sun rising on the far side of the forest representing hope if only one can follow the path to reach it.

This image “Go to the Light” was shot in the Chaoyang Side Park in Beijing.  In the summer this city park forest thrives.  This image was created for limited production as a large format 2.1 meter (7 foot) wide art piece but can be produced in smaller custom sizes as well.

Behind the scenes…

While traveling around Beijing I spotted this park which is large enough to appear endless to the camera but in fact is barely large enough to conceal the city scape in the background.  Standing at the edge of the park (road side) I shot this image in the early hours of a cold February day.  Timing was critical and it took two days of shooting to get the sun and camera positions just right for the effect I wanted.
